PRESS RELEASE ON THE 6TH BIENNIAL CONFERENCE OF POLICE COMMUNITY RELATION COMMITTEE (PCRC)

We are pleased to unveil the details of the 6^th edition of the PCRC Lagos Biennial Conference slated to begin from 30^th October 2021 to November 11^th 2021 with the theme: Achieving a Sustainable Police /Community Partnership in Nigeria. In the past few years especially the fallout of the EndSars challenges, there has been a declining Police – Community relationship. Hence the theme is to re-energize the Police /Community partnership as well as rebuild the trust between the Community and the Nigerian Police Force.

PCRC is a Community Policing -based organization created primarily to bridge the gap between the Nigerian Police Force and the Community in order to promote efficient , effective and proactive policing of the entire society and one of the ways of achieving this laudable objective is by organizing a biennial conference where stakeholders are invited to discuss  topical issues that will impact positively  on the Police -Community relationship and improvement of the overall security situation in Lagos State in particular and the country in general.

This year’s Conference is unique in so many ways with the introduction of a number of novel activities lined up for the Biennial Conference to include:

1. PUBLIC SENSITIZATION WALK/ROAD SHOW. This is slated for 30th October 2021 and is aimed at creating awareness and sensitizing the general public on the importance of supporting the law enforcement Agencies rather than attacking them. The motorized Road Show will begin from Ikeja Club to Governor’s office Alausa.

3. FOOTBALL COMPETITION. This will involve football competition between Police team and Civil society football team. The side attraction will be a novelty matches between PCRC State Executives, Area Command Chairmen/Vice Chairmen and the Management of Lagos State Police Command. The aim is to bridge the gap between the community and The Nigerian Police Force through sports.
4. PCRC ROAD TRAFFIC CONTROL The aim of the exercise which will take place on the 5^th of November is to assist and support the traffic control agencies in traffic control and management.

4. JUMAT SERVICE. This is aimed at thanking Allah in all ramifications for a peaceful, well focused administration in the state and committing Lagos State into his hands for the coming years. The Jumat service is slated for Friday 5^th November 2021.

5. PCRC LAGOS ENVIROMENTAL SANITATION DAY. A special Environmental sanitation day has been slated for Saturday 6^th November in all Police formations were PCRC is available. The aim is to improve the wellness of Officers, staff ,visitors at Police formations across the state.

6. THANKSGIVING SERVICE. This is aimed at thanking God in all ramifications for a peaceful, well focused administration in the state and committing Lagos State into God’s hands for the coming years. The Thanksgiving Service is slated for November 7^th at the Chapel of Light Church Alausa.

7. YOUTH INTERACTIVE MEETING. The Youth are not left out as the Youth Interactive Program with the Commissioner of Police will hold on Monday 8^th November at the Police Officers Mess, Ikeja. The aim is to involve and engage the youth in peace oriented activities for a secured society.

8. WOMEN WORKSHOP. As part of the Conference week activities, there will be women workshop aimed at enhancing women participation in securing the State. The workshop will be held on 9^th November at the Police Officers Mess Ikeja GRA .

9. AWARDS& FUND RAISING NIGHT. The aim of the scheduled for Wednesday 10^th November, this event will provide a veritable platform for social interaction between Top Police Officers, other security agencies and Government agencies , captains of industries , community leaders and PCRC members to achieve a more safer and secured Lagos. There will also be Award presentations, Launching of 2022 Calendar, Unveiling of PCRC Lagos Directory/Handbook etc.

10. CONFERENCE. The highpoint of the 2021 PCRC Biennial Conference will take place on November 11th at the Indoor Hall of National Stadium. Activities lined up include Human Capacity building and development of members of PCRS Lagos, Re-Examine PCRC aim and Objectives, performance assessment and strategizing for more challenges in the nearest future.

As we count down to the commencement of 2021 PCRC Biennial Conference, we implore all well-meaning organizations, individuals, Press/media houses to support PCRC to ensure the success of 2021 PCRC Biennial Conference as this will translate to  a safer and more secured Lagos state for us all.
