When event professionals decide to throw a party for themselves, the result is nothing short of spectacular. On Sunday, April 12, 2026, the Association of Professional Party Organizers and Event Managers of Nigeria (APPOEMN) stepped away from the logistics of meeting tight event timelines to enjoy rare industry moments at the annual Family Funfest, turning KidCity Lagos into a high-octane wonderland of color and connection.

The magic began the moment guests stepped onto the grounds of Victoria Island’s premier destination for kids. A whimsical, circus-themed entrance—complete with a classic red-and-white striped tent—served as the ultimate “paparazzi” backdrop. As members arrived starting at 12 pm, the air was filled with camera flashes and the buzz of exclusive interviews, setting a glamorous tone for a day dedicated to the people behind Nigeria’s biggest events.

Inside, the KidCity hall was transformed into a carnival-chic sanctuary. The décor was a masterclass in professional styling: vibrant, multi-colored palettes danced alongside sage green satin linens and elegant white phoenix chairs. It was a space that felt both sophisticated for adults and magical for children—a true testament to the creative prowess of the APPOEMN community.

The energy later shifted into high gear with a series of interactive icebreakers. From high-stakes singing competitions between tables to the quick-witted “Last Word Game” and flag identification challenges, the room was a symphony of laughter and friendly rivalry.

No APPOEMN event is complete without a culinary journey. Guests were treated to a “best of both worlds” menu: gourmet Nigerian party classics—including the legendary party Jollof—paired with nostalgic carnival treats. Popcorn, candyfloss, and chilled slushies provided a sweet backdrop to an afternoon of networking and relaxation.

During her welcome address, APPOEMN President Ayiri Oladunmoye expressed profound gratitude to the partners and sponsors who brought the vision to life. “Today is about us,” she remarked, encouraging members to dive into the “play” they so often curate for others.

As the festivities spilled outdoors, the competitive spirit soared. Industry icons were seen tackling limbo bars, giant block stacking, a high-stakes Tug-of-War, and even a reversed musical chairs competition. While the adults bonded over teamwork games, the children were immersed in their own paradise, exploring the KidCity Cinema, getting creative at Sip and Paint, and enjoying various other exciting activities.
